Bought a iPhone from a friend, contract wasn't up and believe there is a bill still on it, it's through telus, can I buy a sim from koodo and go pay as you go or did I waste 300 bucks

this question really needs to answered please and thank you, i got an iphone 4. and i just disconnected my telus contract. so now im trying to go on pay as you go with telus. i do still have my telus sim card. is there any way i could still buy a 25$ telus phone card and add it on there? or would i have to get it unlocked firstt?

Hey man, I wanted to say thanks. I read this article and tried it out.
I got the SIM from 7-11 and an unlocked 3GS from Kijiji and now I have a pay as you go iPhone.
I got a value plan with unlimited text and data, so safari and all the other 3G apps work just fine.

Yes, it is locked to AT&T. You'll need to Jailbreak it, then install something like "ultrasn0w" to unlock it.

I have been given a 3G with no sim. Currently use PC (superstore)pay as you go plan, which is fine for what I need. The phone was puchased on ebay from Hawaii, looks like provider was AT&T. I want to use it in Canada. Question: is this phone locked? If so, can it be unlocked? Will a SIM card from Superstore work?

I know this is an old article, but THANK YOU SO MUCH! I could not figure out how to do this. I'm planning on going to Canada for school, so I don't need a contract, but US/Canada plans from popular us providers are INSANELY expensive.

i have a 3gs that was locked to bell mobility in canada, i used ultrasn0w to unlock it, will a rogers pre paid sim card work in this phone? or is there some way to get it to work.

Situation, There is apparently this new feature that allows BB to be used on prepaid, but i am not a fan of BB, i love the iphone, and i don't want to change my number (i've had it for 4 years now), and not old enough.. yet, to go to a contract, is there any ways around the telus prepaid, that i can use an iphone, with the sim i have already ? and am i allowed to use the iphone 4? Also heard about the eligibility to change my number over to rogers, but i don't want to do that.. then have problems and then i lose it forever.

Petro Canada has a cheap unlimited data or talk, text, and data plans prepaid. And they also use the Rogers network.

i have fido pay as you go for a back-up/personal phone ....
i have the *yawn* BB Torch for work full data sync to work MS Outlook, etc. ...
i think i'll get a 3G iphone for this purpose as they seem to be available for ok $ on craigslist.
