Awesome article Miguel. I purchased one of these laptops in mint condition earlier this year so I could run vintage software without needing VM (virtualization or virtual machine). I have the 2.4GHz C2D with 512GB SSD and 8GB RAM. I bought a brand new battery on OWC website (expensive but worth it). I've used all the operating systems on it all the way back to Leopard and have a few different drives that I can boot off from using a USB to SATA cable. My daily driver OS is Sierra 10.12.6.

One huge tip: don't forget to run Terminal and then "sudo trimforce enable" to enable TRIM support. By default, SSD's are not automatically TRIM enabled on older MACS and you'll take a minor performance hit!!

Miguel, I ended up buying a Macbook 5.1 in perfect condition these days. I intend to put 8gb ram and ssd of 120. I want to use only for college and to program between such things. How is his use now in 2019?

After I plug in the Acestream link, it is loading for a while then a message pops up saying "cannot find active peers." What does this mean? Do I need to use a VPN/Is it relevant that I'm on my university's network? Thanks
